STATE OF RHODE ISLAND AND PROVIDENCE PLANTATIONS
CITY OF EAST PROVIDENCE
RESOLUTION AFFIRMING THE CITY OF EAST PROVIDENCE
AS A WELCOMING CITY THAT RESPECTS THE INNATE
DIGNITY OF ALL PEOPLE
WHEREAS, the City of East Providence is proud to partner with the Welcoming Rhode Island initiative; and
WHEREAS, Welcoming Rhode Island aims to build cooperation, respect, and compassion among all in our community, immigrants and non-immigrants alike; and
WHEREAS, the City of East Providence has long been recognized as a hospitable and welcoming place where people, families, and institutions thrive and the contributions of all are celebrated and valued. Residents of the City of East Providence live up to our highest American values of acceptance and equality and treat newcomers with decency and respect, creating a vibrant community for all to live in; and
WHEREAS, the City of East Providence is committed to continue building a neighborly and welcoming atmosphere in our community where all are welcome, accepted and appreciated.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of East Providence does hereby recognize the Welcoming Rhode Island initiative as helping to unite our community and ensure that all are welcome here and urge the residents of the City of East Providence to do their part and join with the Welcoming Rhode Island Initiative.
This resolution shall become effective upon its passage.
